What’s New at the Library

Good News From the Library

The Long Island Library will reopen on Saturday, April 3rd, for adult patron visits. The Library will be open from 9:30 -11:30. The Library will be following all guidelines put forth by the Maine CDC. Patrons will be required to wear masks, social distance, and use hand sanitizer provided by the Library. There will be no restrooms available and for the time being the Tech room, with computers and printers, will be off limits to patrons. On duty staff will have information on the proper handling of books and other materials to ensure that we are following the most recent guidelines for quarantining library materials to prevent the spread of Covid 19.

We will also be continuing our curbside service for those who would prefer contact less pick up of books or other library materials. Library patrons can go to the Library catalog on the Library website, (https://library.townoflongisland.us) or access the website through the Town of Long Island site to find out what books we have and if they are available.

There will be a google form on the site to fill out with the material you are requesting. You can access the form directly using the link below or on the Town of Long Island Website: https://forms.gle/he5x7QfA4nKv2oCC6

You may also call the Library (207-766-2530) on Saturday mornings between 9:30 and 11:00 to request books. Library staff will have your orders ready for pick up from 10:00 to 11:30 AM. All material leaving the Library will have been quarantined for a minimum of 24 hours. We are requesting that patrons leave all returning books and DVDs in the book drop so that staff can properly quarantine them before re-shelving. We are hopeful that with improving numbers of vaccinations administered that we will be able to continue in person Saturday service
